I’m having a rather shit day, so I decided to cook something nice for myself. T-bone steaks were on sale for $4.99/lb at a local grocer and I had some left over mashed potatoes. I threw a little flour and garlic powder into the potatoes to make a sort of latke, fried up a couple of eggs over easy, and made some toast.
Ah, I should be ashamed. I never gave a wellness check of the steak. I reverse-seared this one and maybe left it in for a min too long. It looks rarer than it was, still good though.

Are you on death row?
Lol, we’re all on death row in one way or another given some time. May as well eat your last meal a few times over your life, you never know.
Your username checks out 😄. Enjoy this delicious meal!
At a glance I thought this meal was resting on the table and couldn’t comprehend how it was so massive.
$4.99 is an amazing price
No doubt. Our local Save-A-Lot has contracts with some of our local farms and they cut in the store which is awesome for us. They usually have excellent prices on meats.
One of the things I miss about Texas was that local grocers had great deals on whatever the nearby farms were growing. The most beautifully marbled chops you’ve ever seen for dirt cheap were basically always available. Almost makes me miss that hellhole. Almost.
Looks delicious
Danke
Those potatoes sure look interesting.
Crisping up some mashed 'taters is a fantastic way to use them up. Usually you add egg and flour to help bind, but some flour is all I used here. Thow that mix into some heated oil in a pan and you’ve got yourself a tasty pseudo latke. They’re usually served with sour cream or apple sauce.
Before I saw I sub I thought this was a forbidden snack geology exhibit.

Only edibility here friend.
It all looks pretty tasty. I’ve never seen eggs like that before but it sounds like something I’d like to try.
Hope your evening treats you better, OP.
