Food aid recipients are already required to recertify their information regularly. But the move is part of USDA chief Brooke Rollins’ effort to overhaul the program.

The Trump administration will require millions of low-income people to reapply for food stamps as part of an effort to crack down on “fraud,” Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said.

USDA did not immediately respond to a request to clarify a timeline for Rollins’ new plan or how it differs from current state-level requirements for participants to reapply for the program.

    There is absolutely a problem.
The problem is not fraud by the applicants.
The problem is that we allow corporations to pay so fucking little that you can be full-time employed and still need food stamps to feed your kid.

The problem is that rent is up, groceries are up, everything is more expensive, the cost of living is through the roof and a full-time minimum wage income in most places won’t even support a single person on a starvation diet.
Making 47 million people fill out another stupid form will not fix this.

We can’t have SNAP recipients stealing the bread from the mouths of those poor starving billionaires. They’re the ones who really work the hardest and need government handouts the most!

Does the USDA plan to process applications for the estimated 41.7 MILLION people who recieve SNAP benefits at once, after they all reapply at the same time? And they think that not only can they do that, but that they can do it with greater scrutiny than the first time they applied when their wasn’t a manufactured overload of work?

Sure. They’ll print out each application and they’ll fall straight into a shredder. “After careful consideration, we have elected not to accept your application.” emails will be sent immediately upon application submission.

Oh no, not immediately. You’ll have to wait a few months to get that result.

The government finally reopens to a tsunami of applications that need to be processed by a decimated staff.

This is deliberate. It’s punitive. It’s like MAGA draws energy from human suffering, especially from their own people.
