Oxford just implemented congestion pricing. Drivers must pay £5 to enter the city. The money is used to subsidize public transit. Traffic is down and air quality is improving.

Unlike London, Oxford has a brilliant system of cheap park-and-rides, too.

One would expect a community named “fuckcars” to be filled with people hating on cars and publishing aticles hating on cars.

That’s right, this article is about cars becoming less common in Oxford (fewer cars = better)

It’s not. NYC just did the same thing downtown after a long fight and it’s been going great. Lots of whiny out of towners though.

It’s an oppression of good, honest people who work in the office, contribute to the economy, and drive 2.5 metric tonnes vehicle at 60kmph on 30kmph zone. You can’t do that to them!

Something about freedom or the economy or some tripe like that, I guess.

Yup. It’s always laughable, we just have to ignore them. They can pay if they want to use their car. Also if they cared enough about the economy, they will walk or catch a bus to support the businesses. But we know they won’t do that :)
