I buy exactly what I will eat for the week, and eat it all. I don’t waste any food. At the end of seven days, my refrigerator is nearly empty, except for things that last me more than one week, like milk.

I’m almost the exact opposite, if I have the same meal two days in a row I’m not going to want it again for a couple of weeks.

I know it’s kinda against the spirit of this community, but if you reject enjoying the sheer variety of food this world has to offer, I can’t help but feel you’re missing out on one of the greatest joys of life.

I’m curious do you not get cravings for stuff? I know I’m deficient in B-vitamins if I’m suddenly craving Marmite, for example

As someone who loves food, I agree with you.

Food is my #1 carnal pleasure, and I like to have meals that are varied in taste and in texture. When I visit a foreign country, the biggest joy of the trip is sampling their food, and experiencing all the local flavours.

But, I understand that isn’t the same for everyone. For some people food is just fuel, and they’d rather spend their energy on other things which matter more to them. I can’t agree with that, but I do respect it.

I am wondering that too, it must be a very well rounded meal. When my body tells me “go eat that” I take it as a sign that I really need some stuff.

I’ve been eating tomato soup for lunch every day for what feels like at least a year simply because I went to medieval times and they gave me tomato soup and I liked it

Tomato soup was never a thing for me.

First time I had it was after a root canal. Made a grilled cheese, cut it into small cubes, tossed them into a bowl and poured hot tomato soup over it.

I had a mouthgasm. Pizza soup.

I think I try it again about once a month.

If you don’t have variety over time please be at least taking a multivitamin too. It’s not perfect but it helps against nutrient deficiencies

Yup. My current every day meal plan:

    • Eggs, bacon, cheese, pico de gallo, avacado and flour/Greek yogurt bread

    • Greek yogurt, oatmeal, protein powder, sweetener, chocolate chips, blueberries

    • Cheese hamburger, ketchup/mustard, pico de gallo

This pretty much means my meal prep is making a batch of pico de gallo and processing 2 gallons of milk into Greek yogurt over the week.

The rest of the cooking I’ve got figured out with a microwave only and an oven for the bread.

I certainly won’t claim 4 years solid on it thought - so interested to here what your meal plan is. I can certainly go for months with the same thing and then maybe I’ll cycle in another meal and go for months with that.

I enjoy preplanning my food throughout the week and then going to the discounter exactly once a week and getting everything for the upcoming week in one strike. I cook big portions and shove parts of the food into the freezer. Fresh produce sometimes is a problem to keep fresh for a week in summer so that’s when there may be a second short visit at the grocery department in such weeks. What I do different to your approach is that I cook a variety of meals because I enjoy preparing them and eating them.

Mastering the schedule and the shopping makes me feel good and proud of myself. It’s important to me.

I do this but with two trips exactly because of produce and such. I try to do a lot of fresh vegetables so like half my cart is usually produce but then I had to throw things away too often. Two trips seems like the minimum.

Isn’t not wasting food the default? You don’t have to eat the same meal all the time for that, you just buy what you intend to prepare/eat before it goes bad.

I hope you’ve done your research on the nutritional value of your unvarying meal. And do you only eat one meal a day? Or is there variety in other meals?
