Stop painting Jesus as a communist figure. He’s not. He and all other Abrahamic religious figures are the enemy of communism and must be destroyed along with the billionaires. Communist Jesus is as much of a modern fabrication as White Jesus is.

The idea that the guy who literally started a 2000+ year cult revolving around “worship me or go to the lake of fire” and whose teachings have been used to justify everything from slavery, to colonialism and destruction of non-Christian cultures, to burning people for heresy; has anything to do with communism is fucking ridiculous. Have you ever actually read the bible? I have, he’s still an insufferable piece of shit by modern standards, just because he’s less of a piece of shit than all the other religious leaders he interacted with doesn’t make him a good person. Also, the Bible is pretty damn unreliable as a source for how the Jewish leadership of the time actually acted, since the entire book is framed as “look how much they suck and how much better Jesus is, now reject Judaism and worship him.” Of course they’ll paint the Jews they’re trying to break away from in the worst possible way and Jesus in the best possible way, and even with their best efforts to make him the “perfect human who never sins” there are still plenty of instances of him being an asshole.

      @HiddenLayer555 sighhhh.

      He’s not.

      Liberation theology would disagree.

The idea that the guy who literally started…

No, he didn’t. That didn’t come about until Dante in the 13th century.

Have you ever actually read the bible? I have

No, you clearly have not lmao

      [everything else]

Who gives a shit. “Opium of the masses” doesn’t mean what you think it means. Stop dividing the working class; militant atheism died on Reddit a decade ago for very good reason. These days, Marxists support religious freedom.

No, he didn’t. That didn’t come about until Dante in the 13th century.

Just a few of the many times the New Testament (from the NIV bible) mention hell, or the idea of people going to a place of fire and/or eternal punishment:

Matthew 5:29-30 “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.”

Matthew 13:41-42 “The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Revelation 20:14 “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Luke 16:23-24 “In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’”

Matthew 5:22 “But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

Matthew 10:28 “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Mark 9:42-48 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’”

2 Peter 2:4 “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;”

Luke 12:5 “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.”

Starting to think Christianity has used fear of eternal torture to ensure people’s faith since long before Dante. He made up the idea of hell having different layers for specific types of sinners but sure as hell didn’t invent the concept in general.

What are they saying you’ll go to hell for then? Especially the ones mentioning sins or stumbling. Who’s the Christian God that exclusively decides what’s sinful again?

@HiddenLayer555 Which does not require following Jesus, yes. That is a comparatively novel implementation. But hey, congrats on being able to CTRL+F the bible for “hell” and then acting like you know anything about Christian theology.

Please enlighten me on how the Christian idea that Jesus is the only way to heaven, the thing pretty much every Christian church preaches and was used to justify forced conversions of Indigenous peoples as part of the genocide against them, as well as the enslaving of Africans by Christian landowners, both using the “we’re doing them a favour no matter how many atrocities we commit against then bevause we’re still saving them from eternal damnation in hell” rethoric, is actually not Christian. Jesus didn’t say the only way to “salvation” is through him? What does salvation mean if not avoiding hell then?

@HiddenLayer555 I have more respect for you than to believe that you can’t imagine how organized religion whose institutions had a great deal of power might get it into their heads to reshape their religion’s theology in order to say that one must follow that religion to be secure in the afterlife.

Jesus’s whole cult was about, yes, salvation through his sacrifice. This is Christianity 101.
