Same cause as a lot of problems: the UK has an incredibly right-wing press (mostly owned by a few billionaires) that pumps out propaganda all the time

The press seems to be very powerful to have this much coercive control. What media outlets would you like to be shut down?

        Not OP.

But the UK press has had this power since at least the early 1800s. When they were directly responsible for delaying the UK abolition of slavery. By outright lying to the UK population about the life of slaves.

Access to the internet has definitely reduced the influence in the last 20 years. But the same spending is effecting social media.

The daily mail has the worst reputation. Given, it was set up intentionally by a wealthy Mongol in the 1930s to influence commoner ideals. (commoner being the political term at the time, House of Lords vs commons). But the UK freedom of the press ideal truly distorts how wealth can be used to influence UK press.

I think we should keep the Metro too just so future generations can see what bad journalism looks like

Whoa there!!! Who mentioned shutting down portions of the press because they don’t say what you want?

I nearly got hit 2 days ago by someone who was only looking right as they were turning right out of a junction, he sped off after too, knew he fucked up.

The amount of times I’ve had bus drivers not able to wait 2 seconds for me to pass the bus stop, and then pull in, almost pushing me into the kerb. I really need to get a helmet cam. Black cab drivers can be bad offenders too.

Being a driving professional seems to require you to be a dangerous driver I’ve noticed.

One thing I’ve learnt from my 15 minute cycle commute is to assume everyone on the road is an idiot.

Drivers: happy to kill you for a second off their journey time.

Cyclists: same, as well as thinking red lights don’t apply to them. They’re happy to kill both themselves and their fellow cyclists and pedestrians.

Pedestrians: have a death wish. You don’t need to look if you can’t hear an engine.

I was on a bus once when they were still constructing the cycle superhighway in my area (a waste of time since it’s just full of pedestrians), and despite the warning signs saying narrow lane, don’t overtake cyclists, the driver couldn’t be bothered to wait and ploughed right into the guy, he went flying. And the driver didn’t even stop until a full bus stop later.

Need designated cycle lanes. Anything else is not a solution. Unless we remover the driver completely with self driving cars. Please waymo! You’re my only hope.

Self-Driving car technology is decades away from being viable so I wouldn’t pin my hopes on that one.
