This is a great sale, I’m a bit jealous that I own everything I want lately. Some highlights:
- Ori Will of the Wisps for $8
- CrossCode for $6
- Hollow Knight for $7.5
- Monster Train + DLC for ~$13
- Mortal Kombat 11 for $5
- Little Nightmares 2 for $10
- Oxygen Not Included for $8.5
- Control Ultimate Edition for $10
- Devil May Cry 5 for $10
- Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition for $5
You a t90Official enjoyer too?
How is Monster Train? I usually don’t go for card games, but I played a lot of Slay the Spire.
I second Oxygen Not Included, but skip the DLC
Monster train is lovely. I actually prefer it to Slay the Spire, but it is a little bit more complex. I would highly recommend not playing with the DLC at the start because that makes things a lot more complicated. If you do end up buying the DLC, there’s an option to turn it off. Only when you’ve mastered the game should you turn it on.
Anything INDY that looks fun. I refuse to buy anything ‘AAA’ branded because none of them deserve money or my attention anymore.
Hard to say without knowing what genres you play, but you can’t go wrong with rimworld or hollow knight.
Sorry, that wasn’t a question but a statement. I will only play Indy games. I have blacklisted anything from the AAA studios because of pure corporate greed.
Played both those games and enjoyed them.
There is Amazing Cultivation Simulator which is similar to rimworld but set in a wuxia setting, sseth did a review of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJxM3POU92w.
Loop hero was last years craze if you missed that, pizza tower and tinykin are also popular.
I can’t argue with that.
I spent way too fucking much. I bought.
Stellaris
The Long Dark DLC
Atomic Heart
Eve Online Omega
RainWorld
Vermintide II
Starship Troopers—
You can’t buy other games if you have an Eve Online subscription. There is no other game than Eve.
XD LoL true
Stellaris AND Eve? Wave goodbye to sunlight.
Prepping for the future
Rainworld is a top notch game and a work of art.
Is this a new Long Dark DLC? Have they made progress on the game?
yeah. I think this DLC is the end of the story. i’ve not played it yet. Waiting for winter so I can experience the 4D
Sweet, I’ll keep an eye out for that DLC. I have the rest of it in my backlog (I think), but having been waiting for the whole thing to actually play it.
I picked up Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $15 and Halo’s Master Chief Collection for $10
Started the sale of with grabbing Melatonin, its great if you like rhythm games
I don’t know if it’s on sale but BattleBit Remastered is the best casual FPS I’ve played in years. I figure it’ll tide me over until Starfield comes out. I asked off work to play it on release haha
Looking hard at Pegglin, Griftlands and maybe Remnant.
Pegglin looks good. I was at my friend’s house and he was playing it.
Played a ton of Remnant when it released. Great game.
Just picked up sokobond and builders journey
I miss the days of the short discount windows because the deals were so much better.
True but that resulted in it’s own problems. Think the issue these days is publishers/devs get greedy and suddenly the discounts are worse? You can track the discounts with steamdb and for example the forests devs literally made the worst sale on their game since it came out. Probably to cash on the fact that the new one came out and people might want to check the older one. I wanted to get far cry 3 and was surprised to find the sale was worse (i’m not going to give ubisoft more money, i’d give it to indie devs but not ubisoft).
Dark souls 3
Bought myself sekiro. Already played it once using a friend’s account but very excited to go through it again. Easily top 3 fromsoft game for me
The Dark Souls series being on sale for the first time since Elden Ring launched has me in heaven. Been waiting over a year to pick these games up - I even resorted to family sharing a friend’s account to play Dark Souls 3 and loved every second of it. Dark Souls 1 and 2 are harder to go back to, but picking them up for $20 a piece is nice.
Protodroid Delta, Rusted Moss, Roboquest, The Last Tinker.
Been feeling like going for the nostalgia platformed stuff lately!
I’ve been eyeing rusted moss. Looks really neat. Have you played it yet?
Right off the bat I can tell you it’s like Metroid and Celeste had a baby with a grappling hook system. It also has controller support! Story just drops you in the middle of things which is… An odd choice but I guess it’s a piecing together kind of thing. Charming music as well.
Okay, that’s great. It looks really nice lol. I’ve got a few games to check out before I get to this one but it’s on my wishlist for sure and it’ll be something I get soon (hopefully)
I know they’re on the verge of upcoming remakes and their current discounts aren’t much, but I’m excited to play Lisa: The Painful and Persona 3 Portable - in the latter’s case I’ve already played P3FES but I wanted to hold off on playing the FemC route until either Atlus or fans added in manual skill inheritance - by far the feature I missed most from P4G and P5R. Thankfully, modders have accomplished that and more for P3P.
Once I found out the femmc wasn’t going to be in the Persona 3 Remake all of my interest in it died.
Some Mecha game… Phantom Brigade or Front Mission. I need something to scratch that itch.
I’ve been waiting for Sin Gold to go on sale so I got that.
Now I’m debating on Cities: Skylines or not. Sure, $11 seems like a great price, but there is over $500 in dlc! I mean I don’t need or even want all of them, but my disposable income is pretty lacking.
And Jurassic World 2 is haunting or mocking me because I refuse to buy it before I finish the first one (so I don’t get tempted and skip it). But finishing it is hard when I have so many other games taking up my time. (Oh, first world problems! lol)
I’m loving Far Cry 5 (on Xbox), but I’ve purchased Far Cry 3 and 6 on this sale. I’ve heard mixed reviews about 6, but great things about 3 (if it still runs normally on a modern pc). I also took a dive at X4: Foundations, but never played any of the series. Hopefully everything is fun.
3 plays great on my PC. I made the mistake of playing 5 first, so I found the graphics & mechanics a little underwhelming (I thought 5 looked pretty great). But the game is good; the villain seems to be the series’ fan favorite.
4 might is the sweet spot between 3’s gameplay and 5’s graphics. 5 is gorgeous, but it’s gameplay is a tad more kid-friendly than 3 and 4. And I love 4’s James Bond villain.
Thanks for that! I’ll definitely try out 3 and 4.
5 is basically the first Far Cry I’ve played more than an hour. I wasn’t a big fan of FPS games until recently, so now I have a lot to discover.
I also just recently got back into first person games, after growing up with OG Doom, Hexen, Quake etc.
Some recs that I really enjoyed:
-
Dying Light – the best of the parkour-style shooters I’ve played, including Mirror’s Edge. Great melee too.
-
Doom '16 is a great, really satisfying shooter that I recommend, but Doom Eternal is a whole other beast; I’d compare it more to Thumper, which is an intense rhythm game a la Guitar Hero. It’s stressful and I haven’t completely finished it, but it is an experience.
-
Dishonored 1&2 are both outstanding stealth FPS, with a painterly art style that stays looking up to date. Adds some superhuman powers to the shooter formula.
-
Prey '17 – also by Arkane, Bioshock-like, spiritual sequel to the Dishonored games.
-
Borderlands 2 – great guns, great villain, and so many memes that it probably feels like a reddit time capsule at this point. Mechanically it’s missing some 2023 stuff like crouch sliding, but it is outrageously smooth gaming with the most enjoyable spread of enemy types in any game that I’ve played.
I do actually own Dying Light, Dishonored (1), and Borderlands (both). I really need to get back into those again. I remember Prey and Doom, but I haven’t bought them yet. I couldn’t really get into Dishonored for whatever reason, even though it looked fantastic. I’ll have to revisit that soon after Far Cry 3, 4, and 6.
I think the peaceful vs chaotic option in Dishonored can make sinking into it a little less straightforward than the others, kind of like Deus Ex – except Deus Ex is a more complete espionage experience than Dishonored, where non-violence is sort of just a roleplay choice.
I say go high chaos, even if it feels like the game de-incentivizes it, and just enjoy it as a shooter experience. If you decide you want to do a sneak playthrough afterwards, you still can.

3 is the one I really loved before they got repetitive. I haven’t tried the new ones but might if the price is right.
