UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said she wants closer economic ties with the European Union as she met with European finance ministers in Brussels as part of an ongoing ‘reset’ of relations with the bloc.
Now this is a slippery slope I can get behind. Now you just need to convince your Northern voters.
I’m semi taking the piss. The northerners I’m referring to are the red wall voting Labour voters that felt so strongly about Brexit that they voted in a blonde haired clown to see it through.
North South East West aside, Labour still have a huge problem in that a sizeable proportion of their electorate is pro Brexit. Not as existential as the Tories, mind. But they can’t afford to lose these to Reform or back to the Tories. They’ll need to make a hard decision to leave these voters out of their electoral calculus for several elections if they want to align closer (or rejoin) with the EU.
It’s for that reason I don’t believe we’ll rejoin under either Labour or (obviously) Tories. The Tories you can understand. It’s Labour that I’m disappointed with.
Fairly certain it wasnt 100% north leave/south remain though.
Apologies if you’re taking the piss.
Edit; added letters so I could say what I meant.

More like East leave/ west remain https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/976/cpsprodpb/13F13/production/_118838618_eu_map_leave-nc.png.webp
All that dark blue across Wales and Cornwall is leave too though.
It’s almost everywhere except cities in England.
Interesting, especially given the east had the most to gain.
I was, and am, a very pro remain northerner.
I always found it interesting that Brexit transcended demographics.
