A lot of shit about this makes zero sense.

He joined the Russians, but the Russians murdered him, but the Russians investigated it and brought the Russians to a fair and honest trial and found them guilty?

    The fuck am I missing??

He was a useful propaganda piece for the Russian state and thus treated well by the higher-ups, but the last I heard, he was mistaken for an American ‘spy’ by some braindead half-trained goons in the Russian military. Obviously the Kremlin is a little salty about losing a propaganda tool, and shuttling some idiots to a Storm-Z battalion is probably no great loss.

I get what you mean, but there are people clearly building guardrails. Consider all the hassle of normal travel. Now consider that and on top of it, your destination is Russia with the intent of joining the military. There was a lot standing in the way that he would’ve had to deal with before getting to this point.

True, but I could buy a cheap boat and sail into the ocean if I want, nothing is stopping me. I mean, Coast Guard I guess. I could go outside and start swallowing rocks. So many foolish ways to die, and despite the guard rails on society, I think life is pretty open ended in terms of how badly you can fuck it up.

Ok but buying a cheap boat is kinda a pain in the ass and involves going out of your way. Something being a pain in the ass is a guardrail. Something being an odd thing to do and most people not doing it is a guardrail.

You can duck under the rails pretty easily, but you gotta go out of your way. The real dangerous shit is like how you can just walk into traffic

Yeah, we approved cars way too quick as a society. Definitely one of the easiest ways to ruin your whole life. Right up there with going to sleep with the stove on. And sex. At least we’re not all dying of carbon monoxide poisoning because we thought it would be a good idea to light our houses with oil lamps anymore.
