Some people who have tried the drinks — which contain kratom and kava — say they became addicted. Experts have cautioned about kratom use.

Shouldn’t be shocked that something containing addictive substances is in fact addictive.

A big part of the problem is people buy it not knowing it contains addictive substances. Im really into drugs (science and the chemistry not really doing them) so I already heard about kratom but apparently most people just have never heard of it.

Yes. In fact, one time someone was handing out samples of pre-workout gummies outside the gym I go to, and they contained kratom. It wasn’t even prominently stated on the packaging. I almost just ate one right away, but then I thought, “Eh, let me check the nutrition facts to see how much caffeine these have first.” Turns out, they had kratom in them.

        That’s fucked up.

You would think sellers would be more cautious with Kratom so it won’t get banned.

My grocery store sells kratom and kava drinks next to the energy drinks. It’s insane to me, there’s no indication of the intoxicating effects or the risk of addiction on the cans

In most states, yes; as is it’s derivative, 7-hydroxymitragynine which has very similar effects to opiates.
