We desperately need a third option for phones. Apple is Apple, Google has more or less become Microsoft. We need a Linux variant for phones.
Hopefully, this will push that, and maybe RISC becoming viable?
I don’t know, the way things are going I see upstart manufacturers having enormous trouble with things like mobile carrier frequency licensing/access, as well as institutions blocking access (ie banking)
PostmarketOS, Mobian, and Ubuntu Touch. Also, LibrePhone project by FSF. Those are currently our best bets. Would love to see more people contribute to those though
Also, a couple open source hardware manufacturers making phones: KDE, Tuxedo Computers, Framework, etc
