    Well, if we judged it by metrics like life expectancy, literacy rates, housing rates, popular support for government, etc then the socialist states would all suddenly be on top! Oh… wait a minute… 🤔

        The Nordic states are capitalist, the large firms and key industries are privately owned with a few exceptions, and they depend on imperialism to function. Their safety nets are a portion of the spoils plundered from the global south.

        Nordic states are not really mixed economies, they are capitalist with legacy social programs in the process of being deconstructed. And Norway is a petrostate.

        They are all OECD hangers-on of imperialism as well.

        Put another way, most communist/socialists wouldn’t be too unhappy if we could copy/paste the living standards of Nordic countries around the world. Problem is you can’t do that since they still rely on exploitation (still ehign capitalist and all). The end result isn’t that far off (in some ways), but it doesn’t scale.
