    Ohh, what’s really going to bake your noodle later on, is why do forklift drivers, who operate in carefully controlled environments, need to be recertified every 3 years, but drivers, who operate on public roads around children and pedestrians, only need to be recertified every … never … ?

      y’know I never thought about it like that. I’ve had to get certified as a forklift driver twice in the time that I’ve had my current driver’s license.

      Some places take forklift certification seriously, some don’t. There’s no way to get a driver’s licence without going through some government run program, whereas companies provide forklift certification to their employees. My work just gives it to everyone. I got mine day 1 and had never driven a forklift before. My friend works at a Walmart warehouse and had to take like 20 hours of courses and driver training before getting his.
