Cannabis use is linked to an almost quadrupling in the risk of developing diabetes, according to an analysis of real-world data from over 4 million adults, being presented at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) held in Vienna, Austria (15–19 Sept).

    Poor people hardly ever die on luxury yatchs. Going barefoot is associated with a greater potential for foot injuries. Reading on a screen more is associated with eye strain.

    Anyone can make up these claims, it doesn’t make them medically causal facts, and the people involved in this paper should be embarrassed and suffer some loss of credibility.

    Authors who use behavioral correlations as the basis of their studies are more likely to lose credibility.

      FFS this is a study. Its not trying to be clickbait, or lie to you. If its ethos is that it’s just a correlation, then it’s just a correlation. Would you rather not publish it?

    This study truly is an association. It measures US and UK adults. You literally should take this at face value. However face value is just what’s in the headline.
