The Polish government plans to appeal to the European Commission today on Sept. 12 to extend the import ban on Ukrainian grain products in five EU countries, the government’s spokesperson Piotr Müller told Polsat News.
So you’re telling me that there’s been an EU-wide ban on cheap grain while the prices of wheat products in supermarkets continue to skyrocket?
Fuck’s sake Poland, pick a side.
My understanding is that Poland and the other bordering countries – also grain producers – are okay with being transit countries for grain being shipped through the EU, but object to having the grain being sold in the EU.
To be precise, they are OK with the grain being sold to Spain and other Western Europe countries, but object to having the grain being sold in Poland and other bordering countries.
Ah, I think you’re right, though I’m surprised how hard it is to get clarity on this online.
