A bunch of these tech CEOs are part of the “Rationalist community” and possibly believe in Roko’s Basilisk which is a thought experiment that an otherwise benevolent AGI would punish anyone who didn’t actively work to bring it about. Someone want to link the BtB episodes about them? I know the Zizian episodes go into it but iirc they’ve got a dedicated series about these weirdos.

The rumor I heard around the internet is that the Motorola will have all of the security features Graphene is asking for (and Motorola gets to benefit from both the Graphene nerd sales and the improved security, Google does it in their Pixel line for some reason so there’s got to be perks for Googly Android) and an unlocked bootloader so you can install Graphene, but it won’t be shipped with it.

As a fanboy of LG phones, sadly everything they offer is now better than LG because the last phone LG released was in 2020. At least they shut down their phone division rather than enshittifying.

I agree when it’s at the level of internet gossip, but if a reputable news source picks it up or it’s something the business itself is verifiably bragging about it should be fair game. Last month a bakery had a sign in their window and were doing a “nuclear family” discount and the local subreddit was calling to boycott the homophobic place. And yeah they were bragging about their bigotry on Facebook and local news picked up the story. At some point I think it’s valid to allow metaphorical pitchforks.

You’re not wrong but it certainly feels like it right now, I’m in the Twin Cities and the air is just so gross right now due to being downwind from the Canadian wildfires. We’re just straight up being told to not go outside with a hazardous rating.

I’m like 28 hours into my GrapheneOS phone experience (I’ve used it almost daily for a couple months on a tablet but that’s been mostly NewPipe), and so far my banks’ app works (I should report that to the compatibility list, it’s not currently in there), along with basically everything else I used. If anything most of the weirdness seems to come from the jump from Android 12 to 17, and transferring data from apps that are mostly if not entirely on device. (KDE Connect is the goat yet again, extremely helpful here too)

No it’s not. The paper is the WaPo sports section from a day or two ago and the lettering matches well with that and the crunchy pixels. The newspaper might be photoshopped into an old pic or there’s some other fuckery but the text on the paper matches. (Also that kind of check pattern on Mitch’s shirt is hard for current commercially available LLMs but wouldn’t put it past them to have access to something fancy.)
