I was going to do a deep dive into the legislation to figure out WTF I was remembering here, but it’s been kicking around my inbox for a full month now, so I think I have to give up on that.

I don’t think I ever laid eyes on one myself, but I did talk to shooting buddies who bought a restricted and then regretted it. I guess it’s possible they were just exaggerating, but there definitely was something about having to call movements in.

The legislation we have here does make no sense, although that can cut both ways if you want to own something weird. I never got the PAL myself but I’ve thought about getting a specific kind of blackpowder musket that would be banned in the 'states.

TL;DR, they physiology is pretty similar to someone filling your lungs with a saline solution, but slower because they’re cold blooded.

When you consider this, that most plastic comes from fishing, and that modern day slavery is heavily present in it (no police on a boat, and hard to escape) I actually have more respect for meat eaters than pescitarians. Don’t eat seafood, folks.

I mean, in 2005 the US was a lot closer to Canada on multiple fronts when it comes to human rights. I’m kind of surprised that the court sided with the challengers - and not at all surprised the decision was successfully appealed in 2009, which you probably should mention.

I’m actually in a safe riding, on top of it all. I do activism as well, but it’s a drop in the bucket. The sweet, sweet taste of powerlessness…

Yep. Politicians and the kind of people that hang out with politicians seem to be behind the curve on understanding what’s happening, but even they must know this by now. The trick is that rolling it back could provoke Trump, and they’re trying to keep that to a minimum at the moment.

That being said, if Carney doesn’t fix the rules within the next year I’m going to be very disappointed. The courts will probably strike it down eventually regardless.

We are not allowed to simply give it out to anyone. This is not like a church pantry where all of the food is donated by the community and’s parishioners. There is government funding, as well as private businesses, which I am guessing get their money back from the government for funding this. If we could simply give it to anyone we would not be in this situation.
