9·14 days agoIt is truly horrifying when you drill into the numbers.
I can see that it MIGHT be useful as a tool for medical professionals, but exposing it to the public is an insane risk.

PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world•PwP Discord Server - should there be an alternative?
1·15 days agoYeah, that is what I am finding. Takes a while to build a community, so wanted to get others’ input on whether being on Discord is an issue and, if so, what alternatives there are.
Doesn’t appear to be much consensus on an alternative, and that a mass migration is happening. So for now will probably stick to the Discord channel.

1·2 months agoThanks, I actually did put Jottacloud on the latest standard guide (instead of Internxt) - forgot to carry it through here. In my mind they are one of the better options so is worth highlighting.
Good catch on Flickr. I’ve removed them from the site for that very reason. I’ll update the guides to reflect the same - thanks!

2·2 months agoYou guys aren’t wrong, but they are a legitimate company and being the ONLY truly Canadian option I felt they had to be mentioned.
P.s. from my research they are built on top of Chrome.

1·2 months agoYeah… it is mentioned on their profile. Sadly have to simplify things on these one-page guides. https://purchasewithpurpose.io/software/7tq19sdu4QDL5ZXBsAjMfK/
My usual recommended option is Qobuz. Least controversial of them all.

PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world•After the threat of tariffs, I've made a new edition of the guide to help the Buy Canadian movement
2·2 months agoIt really is a stretch including that as an alternative, but apparently people are still buying it 😅

You literally picked the most controversial section, which has limited, uncompromised options.
However:
all of these facts you listed are noted against each of the company’s profiles.
Qobuz is the top of the recommended list
Spotify isn’t recommended and educates people as to why. I’ve found this way more effective in informing people and many have since moved.
You make a good point though on the scale of wealth of the ownership between Access and Block. I’ll look at highlighting this fact more.
The point is that people are driven by many different factors. Not here to be the arbitrator of the “best” alternatives. Rather highlight the issues and get people using better tech. E.g. anti AI advocates will shout that X company should be removed, BDS advocates say Y, Buy European says Z…
If you feel that I haven’t flagged something that people should know, then please highlight it and I’ll add it against their profile.
