I’d go with the tomahawk as it’s a solid board and usually recommended from what I’ve seen. Both are fine motherboards, but the tomahawk seems to be a little more “premium” compared to the b650-p WiFi. Also for a x3D CPU the tomahawk will offer a little more “power” and take better advantage of it.

But you will pay taxes on the growth of the account later. Whereas a Roth grows tax free.

Ultimately it depends on what you think you will make in retirement. Both traditional and Roth IRAs are tax advantaged accounts, it just depends on when you want to pay the tax. It also depends on what kind of investments you are doing in those accounts. For something like the S&P 500, you can expect it to grow so a Roth is more tax advantaged than a traditional. However, we also aren’t talking about huge investments either l, so do your own research and see what you want to do.

Compound interest will far outweigh paying taxes now for a Roth. Especially if you also have a 401k, the taxes in retirement will be potentially large based on the growth of the fund over decades. A Roth makes it so you pay nominal taxes now for potential large tax free growth later.

The exception would be if you think your income will decrease in your later working years, in which case a traditional IRA could make more sense. That however is a unique case. Generally it’s better to take advantage of a Roth if you can for tax free gains later.

In that case you may want to consider dropping down on cpu to get a better graphics card. His $850ish build will probably serve you better than going up on CPU and ram UNLESS you plan on putting funds aside for a GPU upgrade soonish.

That said, I would say an NVME drive will boost you quite a lot simply due to the read write speeds compared to a sata SSD. It will be noticeable.

What is your budget? That looks good, I would just add a M.2 NVME SSD and then later when you can upgrade the graphics card. His September video has good recommendations for those. Also looks like the 7800x3d is sold out most places but if there is a Best Buy near you they may have it in stock. Good luck!

Bad news: nothing is really worth salvaging except maybe the HDD as a spare data drive but SSDs are cheap enough to warrant the upgrade and the TV (though a monitor would be better)
