Argh. Now I‘m on your side here, and think the ban was neither justified nor was their policy of “Everyone STFU this thread is now locked, you are all dumb” in any way something that makes me think communities should be hosted on lemmy.world. But calling it “saying I don’t like ads” is utterly ridiculous.
The community edition has always been open, but it’s lacking many features that professional devs would want.
Yes, Apache licensed: https://github.com/JetBrains/intellij-community
Not sure how fully featured it is, it’s been close to two decades since I last used it ;) It certainly was better than Netbeans or Eclipse back then.

You are probably joking, but yes. Someone else using curl also got redirected to a Rick Roll YT video, apparently the creator of the malware had some fun with it before they shut it down, their “Look I’m on TV moment” ;)

For FF Desktop users: In about:config set network.IDN_show_punycode to true to see xn–eepass-vbb[.]info instead of ķeepass[.]info

It’s not super common, but I have seen sites in Germany that use Ümläüts in their domains. It’s not usually the primary domain, but they get used.

FF Desktop shows xn–eepass-vbb[.]info for me. (Edit: Was just told on HN that I have a non-default flag, in about:config set network.IDN_show_punycode to true if you want this behavior)
FF Android redirects me to the real keepass page and I have no idea why :D

That doesn’t mean they can be held responsible for their inability to do so.
Not once have I said anything like that.
They need to helped with measures to keep harm away.
Yes, for example, by getting helped by those people not challenged like that. Which is exactly what I’m saying.
Some of us govern themselves mostly well
These are who I’m talking about. People I think are a majority.

I don’t understand this. Telling someone to vote with their wallet is not helping. The equivalent would be that a victim was „told“ to defend themselves. I am saying we shouldn’t put the responsibility on the victim but the aggressor.
It tells them to do something. Yes, it sucks that there are assholes. Be they companies, or people beating others. But if everyone just shrugs their shoulder, they’ll never go away. Some can’t “vote with their wallet”, or defend themselves, as you say. But many can. And they should.

Why is that important?
Because if it’s not, there’s a significant amount, a majority even, of people who can and should vote with their wallets. But don’t.

But is that really the majority of people?

It’s been many years since I tried it last, but back then MM simply had far more management features. If you don’t have any pain points with musicbee, I don’t think there’s a reason to switch, though.
But IME most tools for example don’t have something as simple as “tagging issues”:
Yes, that does sound a lot like hexbear. I defederated them because all I saw was fascist bullshit.
