What I find convenient about admining a room is that you can easily block users and then automatically delete their message history as well, so since you can undo whatever they do, even if they are able to join and succeed temporarily, in the long term their efforts amount to nothing.
You also have fine-grained control over permissions so you can even make it like IRC or XMPP where rooms with severe moderation problems can be made so the default role when a user joins does not allow them to send messages until you give them voice, so to speak.
Never underestimate the power of books
Iran has announced this many times over the past several years. I don’t know to what extent they have succeeded in using crypto, though. This would be good to cross-post to !iran@lemmy.ml
I guess that makes Taiwan racist and Sinophobic
This is the natural consequence of having a state which monitors its own citizens using tools of mass surveillance, for example though monitoring their Internet and social media activity. It creates a dangerous situation for all individuals, and the states which engage in these kinds of practices deserve our highest condemnation.
This isn’t even the worst possible scenario; governments regularly access this kind of information about users without even a warrant or any form of approval. They are also not only spying on their own citizens, but potentially anyone.
What would a physicist know about life force energy
Keep dreaming
What I try to do is create a Matrix chat and the link it to a Lemmy community. You get the best of both worlds

As if China is any better
I’m confused about whether it’s a forum or chat platform? Or both I guess
Of course I believe Assange didn’t do anything wrong, and so his persecution is a terrible thing. The problem is the persecution of the Russian state against its own citizens as at a scope/level far greater than in the United States. The same is true for China and other despotic regimes in the world. USA isn’t wonderful by any means, it’s simply better than those, which is not hard to accomplish because that’s setting the bar as low as possible.
Ah yes, the simple school teacher who told his students about US war crimes
Can you explain why this exists
B-but America…!
The thing is, it’s still better to live in the United States or Canada than it is to be subject to the rule of the Russian Federation or the PRC. They’re a lot more corrupt and deposiltic, and their supporters online (who, by the way, don’t even live there but just consume propaganda all day) can do nothing more than lie and deflect. “What about America?” They say. Oh, the irony.
The worst government is the one that uses mass surveillance
