This is exactly how we put up amateur radio antennas.
Some things to consider:
- how is it powered
- how do you get it down
- how do you stop it from killing someone on the ground when it eventually comes down
- how will foliage growth affect the range
- squirrels and birds will likely take an interest
- waterproofing

2·3 days agoWhy not gesture navigation?
I’ve never gotten my head around it, but if the vanishing buttons annoy me enough, I might have to make the change.
Lineage os?
Unfortunately, my phone is not on the supported hardware list.

1·3 days agoIn Western Australia we have a bunch of bushfire and emergency resources. Here’s a few of them.

in addition, various local governments, cities, suburbs etc. have their own published plan and consultation process.
Volunteer Firefighters augment the Fire brigade, mostly outside the metropolitan area of Perth.
There’s fire hazard reduction burns during winter, coordinated by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.

4·3 days agoI discovered a Nokia X20 part of the Android One program, that has native Android on it. I loved it so much, I bought a second one, even though my first is still going strong.
Two issues, no more OS updates. I’m stuck on Android 14, and there’s a weird bug with the navigation buttons vanishing from time to time.
Not a recommendation as such, more that there are phones that run unadulterated Android.

132·3 days agoWe bought exactly one Samsung Android device, that attempted to force us to use Samsung tools for:
- app store
- contacts
- calendar
- internet browsing
- calculator
- chromecast
I’m pretty sure that there were more.
We won’t ever buy a Samsung Android device again.

2·3 days agoI’ve never been to a ski resort, but Levi Ski Resort is all Audi ads:
It’s a big list. Very pretty.
Which of those entries can actually be trusted? I’m asking because so far I’ve seen no evidence in any Android development of a chain of trust.
How do you know for example that these ROMs aren’t riddled with spyware, exploits or info-stealers?
