I feel like 75% of Mastodon are people talking about Linux. If you don’t care about Linux you feel alienated. I enjoy Mastodon and Lemmy, but the lack of more diverse subjects gets to me if I browse for too long.
Update: I took your advice and purchased a laptop for Linux, and now I care about it! Problem solved.
I must be doing something wrong because mastodon.social instance has like max 50 things on a hashtag, no local content, and I can’t find anything interesting browsing “posts.”
Also, you can’t browse any other instances on the app. I have pretty much stopped using it. It’s 80% US politics
I don’t browse Mastodon – twitter never appealed to me, so it’s replacements don’t either. So I cannot comment on the technicalities. However, this thread you’re replying to is from Lemmy, so you’re clearly accessing at least one other instance (a Lemmy instance in this case, rather than a Mastodon instance).
