Not putting people into what is effectively a residential school.

oh yay, that’s the first time someone didn’t reply with ominous “human rights violations”. So they are forcing uighur children to attend boarding schools far away from their own cultures? How do you know this? And why go to all that trouble?

Is there a source that i could show you that you would actually believe? Like the UN? Or amnesty international? Or all the various reporting on it? Why go through the trouble to commit human rights violations? Racism, authoritarianism, etc.

UN woud be amazing, amnesty international usually cites sources, like anything like that would be amazing. Racism and authoritarianism are tools used by the oppressors, not the motivators. The lost generations in canada, pissrael and australia were to further a genocide of the native population in order to settle their land. A clear economic motivator. I don’t see a similar motive for china.

That’s the same link twice, it doesn’t say anything about residential schools. There are two sources cited in the wikipedia article, one is Zenz from 2021 (of course) and the other a single financial times article from 2018 that cites no sources except US officials and some guy that left his home years ago to pursue a degree in Pissrael.

Compare that with what I see on xiaohongshu where Uighurs share their culture, language, traditions etc. and can you at least understand why this doesn’t really sound convincing to me?

A residential school system that has allegedly abducted thousands of children for over 7 years now and the best source wikipedia has to offer is a years old financial times article that isn’t even a real witness testimony?

It’s a bit tiring to do the source work myself tbh, I’ll respond more later but again the first article you shared has nothing about schools. The UN report it’s based on like 3 links further has some information about schools, doesn’t seem to be boarding schools but I’ll look into it later:

                    https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/documents/countries/2022-08-31/22-08-31-final-assesment.pdf

The other article is again mostly US state propaganda that is just stuff like

More than one million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities, including ethnic Kazakhs and Uzbeks, have been detained since 2017, according to international researchers and U.S. government officials. (Some watchdog groups put more recent estimates closer to 1.8 million)

One million is quite the number, yet there never seems to be any concrete evidence supporting this. Satellite images don’t count, not since the “WMDs in Iraq”. I’m gonna bet “international researchers” is again just Zenz. The “watchdog group” links to an article by rfa, so it’s literally just the CIA. Like what the fuck is this, why are the only like a dozen Uyghur people protesting this and why is constantly pushed by the US state departement, CIA and the likes who have never once cared about foreigners ever??

The only thing about schools again is

Many families have also reported that their children were taken to boarding schools without their consent.

It links to this https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2023/09/china-xinjiangs-forced-separations-and-language-policies-uyghur-children which clearly states at the bottom

Special Procedures’ experts work on a voluntary basis; they are not UN staff and do not receive a salary for their work. They are independent from any government or organization and serve in their individual capacity.

and is a few paragraphs like

The experts received information about large-scale removal of children, mainly Uyghur,

What information?? Witness testimony? Pictures? What’s large-scale? Dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions?

Why is it so difficult to pin down actual verifiable evidence. Or witness testimonies. Any group oppressed historically had solidarity movements, jews during the holocaust, palestinians, native americans, where are the uyghur grassroots movements?

Can you at least understand why a skeptical reading of these allegations leaves a lot to be desired?
