The Palestinian Center for the Defense of Prisoners said that the Knesset’s preliminary approval of a law imposing the death penalty on Palestinian detainees amounts to an Israeli war crime.
The center warned that this “fascist step” will lead to more bloodshed and drag the entire region into a new spiral of the unknown.
The Knesset’s National Security Committee has advanced the bill, which Israeli media say could face its first reading in the plenum as soon as Wednesday.
