I read a ton of Stephen King as a kid and I think my kid will be into it, but I’m not sure which book would be a good entry point. He has so many different types of story from weird to horror to mind bending. What would you use as a good entry for his horror? For an 11 year old.

Update… Thank you so much everyone! This thread is making me want to reread the books myself too 😄

Pet Semetary, Thinner, Needful Things …all good ones I read around that age.

Pet Semetary was my first King and first horror novel. I didn’t sleep with the lights out for 2 weeks behind that shit. 40 years later and I’m still creeped the fuck out on rereads.

Same here! I’ve watched the movies and nothing is as scary and vivid as the version in my head from when I first read it.

I’m gonna recommend against Pet Semetary for a kid. It was my first King book when I was 11 or 12, and I had to put it down. It was so disturbing and not fully comprehensible for me at the time. Not only did I not like it, but I couldn’t finish it.
