    Unironically. The Greek war plan was based on the assumption that they (and their 5000 Theban allies) would win because the position was perfectly defensible. The allied vanguard was to buy time for the rest of Greece to finish mobilizing.

    The Spartans losing was a skill issue and if the allied fleet hadn’t been doing much more effective work the Greek alliance would have lost the war and then had all their slaves freed, the horror.
