i mean, yes. i don’t think the argument is really “this specific kind of consumerism bad but other consumerism good”, and more that it’s really fucking awful consumerism is forced onto kids this much in the games they play

Like, for example, if you don’t play that gacha game you spent 100$ on, you… kinda wasted 'em, while your PSP from years back can probably still run if it hasn’t died yet
Hell you can mod the PSP and get way more functionality and use out of it than you would’ve legally
You could also sell the PSP later, or gift it to a sibling, etc
