I was unaware of this (and Coco Chanel’s Nazi sympathizing) until watching The New Look on AppleTV. It wasn’t that well received, but I appreciated seeing a story take place during WWII that treated the occupation of France not as the main plot, but as a setting.
He’s american, but his WW2 novels revolve around Europeans.
“Night Soldiers” is about a Bulgarian fisherman whose brother was killed by a Fascist mob. He gets recruited by the KGB and gets sent to fight in the Spanish Civil War.

Wasn’t he drowning them with his shampoo?
His technique of torturing Nazis and making shampoo out of their remains would be the basis for the whole soap thing in Fight Club.
