Lithuania will cover all the costs associated with hosting U.S. troops in the country, where a new barracks is among the improvements made for American forces deployed along NATO’s eastern edge.

More than 1,000 U.S. troops are currently deployed to Lithuania, which has long been regarded as a potential flashpoint in any conflict, given the country’s proximity to the Russian military exclave of Kaliningrad and Kremlin ally Belarus.

According to Jake Broe Overflow YT, USA most likely will not help out when Ruzzia invades the eastern flank.

US militaries are now mercs ?! This must be such a weird situation. Will paying them ensure loyalty and does that garantuee they won’t be abandoning their post?

Legally, they could refuse Trump’s (illegal) orders to eventually evacuate when the shitstorm comes, according to US mil law, iiuc. It could be smarter to coopt all the US military in the EU to ensure their loyalty. And would it work if we made them EU nationals and let them swear to the EU flag or so?

I mean if we are paying them why not let’s just have them altogether onboard.
