Back when I was in an apartment We actually pinned blackout curtains or blankets over these types of entrances. It’s ugly and it’s a bit of a hassle but it’s worth it

That’s what I would do with shower heads, since landlords typically just go with cheap ones that check off “has shower” but otherwise generally suck. They just screw off, I stick the crappy one in the cabinet under the sink, and install another one that I bought.

Frustrating part is that it doesn’t even cost much to get a decent one instead of the cheapest possible. It’s like landlords and developers go out of their way to save a tiny amount on hardware and appliances that are significantly worse than what you can get for not that much more.

These types of ideas sound great before you know how much blinds cost. "Maybe I can live with it after all "

I’ve been seriously considering just removing them without replacing them with anything for about 6 of those 13 years 😄

Something that I noticed about these is there is a fairly wide gap in quality between the cheapest landlord special vertical blinds and the “nice” vertical blinds. The nicer ones are fairly thick so they hold their curve and dont get AS jumbled up as the cheap ones. But more imporantly they dont crack just from looking at them.

One good thing about them is that if you have a cat, they are less likely to get destroyed than the other type of blinds.

I hate these, but I learned after removing them that you cant just go to the hardware store and get something else and curtains and other types of blinds often don’t come in the sizes/span these ones do and you have to go custom at a large cost.

Hey I grabbed multicolored scotch tape (painters tape) and put a Pride flag onto the shades that way I can show my neighbors I’m fruity. Party in the front, party in the house

Yeah, those blinds are really cheap… had them in my first c̶u̶b̶b̶y̶h̶o̶l̶e̶ apartment too. Made it look like trash, but at least they gave me privacy.
