Kids don’t need highly processed food at all. They need real food with nutrients and not high fat kibble.

Are you under the impression Doritos have good fats in them?

Good fats are needed but eat too much of the good stuff and it will negatively affect your body too.

Of course not. I’d doubt there’s much if any “good fats” in Doritos at all.

I chimed in because whenever I hear the old anti-fat claims I cringe a little. Good fats like omega 3s and stuff are really important for the brain. Especially when kids brains are forming.

The anti-fat fad of old has mostly been debunked but old habits and indoctrination dies hard.

The bigger problem is cheap and low quality carbs, and sugar(high fructose syrup).

Fats are good. Obviously you can overdo anything. Better to cut out shit carbs and sugar, and not worry about fats. It’s hard to overeat extra virgin olive oil, avocados, nuts, etc.

Oh I’m well aware. I categorize good fats as nutrients and they are very different from the processed crap in chips.

Calling Doritos high fat kibble is me shitting on the vending machine eating addiction corporation gave people and not calling all fats bad.

Generally speaking, snacks like Doritos or muffins are okay in moderation; we’ve all heard that before. But it is true. And kids also deserve treats/rewards to help build good work habits (Hell, so do adults).

Giving kids unfettered access to junk food AND adults not stopping them (be it parents or teachers alike) is the real problem here. Kids need to be taught right from wrong, especially when it comes to making healthy decisions (especially with food).

Do they need Doritos? No. Should they occasionally have them? Sure, why not? They’re kids.

So, in other words, they do not need them at school. There are far better options for a small treat or reward, especially during the school day.

The problem is, even most adults don’t know what’s good for them. The government has been really good at dumbing down its populace over the years.
