Foreign visitors could be asked to submit up to five years of social media history when applying for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which allows citizens of 42 countries to visit the U.S. for up to 90 days without a visa.

In June, the U.S. State Department also issued instructions to screen for advocacy for, aid, or support for foreign ‘terrorists’ and other threats to U.S. national security, as well as ‘support for unlawful antisemitic harassment or violence.’
