I’d argue having electric vehicles harassing pedestrians on the sidewalks and trails contributes to the number of cars on the road as it makes walking or taking a pedal bike anywhere even more inconvenient, the opposite of what we need.

It makes walking hazardous and annoying. I’ve had to jump out of the way of scooters before and it made walking suck. This pushes people to drive more.

If someone wants to ride an electric scooter on the sidewalk in the suburbs where sidewalks are often empty, and take special care when there is a person walking, that’s fine. But in an area where sidewalks are completely full of walkers, like in a city center, electric scooters are a nuisance.
