What are you talking about? I have never heard any kind of rape accusation against Che. Calling him a murderer is also fucking wild. He liberated millions of people and was himself murdered by the CIA for trying to foment revolution in Bolivia.

I didn’t agree with the guy you were replying to but for some reason I can’t agree with you either.

I mean there’s legitimate criticisms to be made of Che Guevara. He was absolutely a morally complex person who undeniably made errors that cost people their lives. He did believe in revolutionary violence, and I disagree with some of the actions he took under that notion, such as executing traitors who sold information to anti-revolutionary forces. He admitted openly to doing that and how he came to view his actions at that time later in life is open to some interpretation.

He also spent significant years of his life building and organizing bakeries, hospitals and schools to improve the lived conditions of the extremely impoverished in Cuba. He lived among them and I believe that he genuinely believed in their liberation.

To reduce him to a murderer is just to dismiss every other action he took, and the context within which he did endorse revolutionary violence. As for the accusation of rape I have literally never heard any such accusation before, and am unable to find anything online corroborating that.

It’s honestly such a wild claim. I’m no fan of MLs, but just throwing rape accusations out there without any description of circumstance, let alone evidence, is just absurd.

As for murderer, he did kill many people, both as a guerrilla and as political leader overseeing executions. The latter is him wielding the power of state violence, which of course should be condemned but is part of a system of violence.

As for the former, I won’t hold that against him. Rebellions and revolutions will never be without bloodshed

Personally I’m not sure about the rape claims, but regarding the murders let’s take this excerpt from Wikipedia:

He described his brutality using paradoxical phrases, such as defining the revolutionary’s motivation as “an immeasurable feeling of love,” while at the same time having to practice “becoming a cold-blooded killing machine, driven by pure hatred.”

Given he apparently said that, was described by others to enjoy killings and was proven to be directly responsible for shootings of countless of people (including, but not limited to the ones in '59) we should absolutely hold that against him. There’s no sense in shifting the blame to a state, given he together with Castro was the one building and directly in charge of it.
