A small UK software company which trademarked the name Threads over 10 years ago is demanding Meta stop using the name within 30 days::Threads Software Limited and its lawyers wrote to Meta to tell it to stop using the Threads name in the UK.It’s owned the British trademark for Threads since
I hope this does something but I know it won’t lol.
Maybe they can take a page out of elons playbook and rename threads to something like “Z”?
They should go with XX
Definitely XXX, triple the fun of Xitter.
Might get mistaken for cross stitch or something …
I think Twitter might be available now.
If it’s really just the UK, Zuch will keep shoveling money at them until they give in. Worse case scenario: rebrand for UK only:? Boycott UK to apply political pressure?
If they waited this long to go after Facebook they must have a strong case lol
You don’t just pull the trigger, you build up your case first.
Wasn’t there something similar about the name Meta and nothing came of that either?
do they even use the name? or did they just trademark it 10 years ago and left it abandoned until now? do they even compete in the same field? it’s not like fb tried to use the UK Threads publicity and success to market their alternative to Twitter
edit: their website doesn’t even exist lol
Here is their website. Yes they use it. Yes they have customers.
it certainly looks real, then the article in the original post referred to wrong url
Not happening. This came up in another thread, too. They aren’t competing in the same industry, so they don’t really have a basis to claim anything.
Sometimes people get confused and just see “software” in the description of things and just declare it “tech”. Therefore, same industry. But yeah, not related.
Who’s downvoting this dude lol
What does the other Threads do? If it’s not social media then FB might be fine.
People who read the article?
The British company trademarked Threads in 2012 for its intelligent messaging hub, which can store a company’s emails, tweets, and voice over internet protocol phone calls in a cloud database.
Why would I read the article when I could instead degrade the quality of public discourse because I’m lazy
The other threads is a diabolical site that lures in children, tracks their activity, tailors content to them with the aim of getting them addicted and then targets advertising toward them that is so incredibly honed as to be fail proof. So as Long as Facebook isn’t doing anything shitty like that, they should be fine.
