It’s definitely strange but anything east of Ottawa, Ontario’s Centretown gets very French. Conversely, western Quebec is weirdly Anglophone, especially once you get to the Shawville/Portage du Fort area. I have in-laws from that area and while its fully Québec, nobody there speaks French. It an interesting historical situation
A good number of New Englanders speak French, too. They have about the same amount of French speakers in New England French as there are in Louisiana French.
