You still need the Number for verificartion purposes.
The Username can be given out to people you don’t want to give your phone number to to hide it, but you still need it.
It will be like Telegram Username system
You don’t “switch” to a username. Think of a username like a phone number alias that you can change. Username is kind of a misnomer
