Not sure if this is a (very annoying) feature or a bug that popped up recently, but when scrolling posts and encountering an ad, it will start playing with sound even though it shows the muted icon, unmuting and muting again has no effect. Sometimes this also happens when there’s no ad in sight, like while reading or replying to a thread, which leaves you with no option than to endure the ad.
This is on v24.03.04-23:28 with Android 13 (T1SSMS33.1-121-4-8). Not sure what other info I can provide to help with the issue.
If you don’t want to buy the ad-free version, consider trying Thunder. It’s the best non-Sync app I’ve used.
I think I started with that before sync for lemmy came out. But I’m a long time sync user, I think I even paid for it a few years ago, and I just don’t feel anything else comes close.
FOSS ones have came a long way now like the difference is day and night from what they used to be
Thanks for the suggestion, but the thing is, I’m a developer and designer myself so I’m extremely picky about how things look and function, and I’m not ready yet to separate myself from an app I’ve been very happy with for a long time over a single annoyance that is probably temporary.
Yea sure there are customisable one like eternity though but i guess if this is what you like you should carry on.
I’ll keep it in mind, every once in a while I take the time to see what’s new.

No it doesn’t. Apps with way worse ads allow muting. This has to be a bug.
Well the thing is they appear to be muted from the icon on top of them, but it autoplays sound and clicking the icon (twice) doesn’t do anything.
