They tricked me! I mean, I didn’t fully expect a loss in the moment, but they definitely tried to make it seem that way. Though I guess you could see it as a way to convey the characters’ emotions in the moment.
Also Tanjiro just impromptu using a new breathing technique, our boy is going to be unstoppable!
A big emphasis on the self-centeredness of demons in this episode. Hantengu is a real lowlife. It makes me wonder if being a demon causes them to become self-centered, if Muzan selects self-centered people to become demons, or if non-self-centered demons tend to just die out. I suspect we’ll find out more about this when we meet the top-ranked demon below Muzan.
Also: do they really need to keep the village’s location top-secret still? It seems like the demons have already figured out where it is located.
Half expected them to allow Tanjiro to leave without the blindfold - as he’s now like a “honorary citizen”
If ufotable and Go Shiina create any more hype in their fight scenes I might just explode at some point.
There was a lot to dislike about this season but in the end the soundtrack and visuals always pull through.

I agree!
After the Red-Light District arc, I decided to lower my expectations around the narrative story telling and use of flashbacks. I love the action animation and soundtrack. I also enjoy the characters and the general concepts of the story arcs. But a lot of the story itself falls flat for me, and doesn’t show signs of changing. Perhaps it has something to do with who they see as their audience (more casual, might be doing something else while watching).
With that in mind, I quite enjoyed this season. My main disappointment was that they did the 2-fights-at-once thing again.

They really did every anime cliche possible this season. Constantly pausing fights to explain something, constantly switching back and forth between fights, introduced 2 new characters by flashback right before they are about to “die”.
Very emotional finale and a solid effort in closing out what felt like a overly drawn out season. I feel like they did Mitsuri dirty though, she didn’t get anywhere enough screen time to better appreciate how good a fighter she was.
It got way too shonen now. Op MC that can just do a new technique from other breathing suddenly. Cute babyish talk. No serious consequences. I hoped they dared to be different, but no. It’s as shonen as it can get. Not gonna continue watching.
Not gonna continue watching.
I can’t blame you. There definitely has been shounen shows that I’ve had to drop because the story was unenticing.
As OP as Tanjiro is, I like how it still feels like he is still outclassed by the Hashira and the Upper Demons. Though I suspect Tanjiro will keep becoming more and more OP.
It is a bit funny that the consequences are becoming less and less with each Upper Demon. First Rengoku dies, then Tengen is severely injured, but this time it’s only nameless characters that suffer serious loss. I somewhat sympathize with the author, because making a token sacrifice in each arc would itself be repetitive.
However, Nezuko surviving the sun felt like a step too far. It reminded me that Tanjiro hasn’t lost anything personally significant since the beginning of the series (that I recall). The show set up a nice moment where Nezuko sacrifices herself and Tanjiro would have to reevaluate his ambitions. This would be an actual loss for Tanjiro, but nope. Perhaps that is path the author would have gone down if he was given free rein.
Even though the season felt kinda stretched, ufotable still made every episode feel like 5 minute episodes. Was a great final episode with a bit to much plot armour (imo) for our favourite smol Nezuko, but I guess they had to introduce her ability in some way.
All in all I would still give it a 7.5/10 because even if the plot is not the best, the music and the animation makes up for it.
Great end to a season, what’s not to love. Smol Nezuko is safe and that’s all that matters.
