The story is a pulp adventure with notes of Stephen King (without the cocaine), the action gameplay ranges from underwhelming to pretty bad, and the narration’s delivery by Matthew Porretta is flatter than a bowling alley, but it all comes together as something incredibly charming. You should give it a shot. The gameplay is fun and, while I’m not sure, I think Alan Wake is supposed to be a trash writer. Less Stephen King, more Dan Brown so that takes a lot of the edge out of it.
