You say this as a joke but I’m willing to bet 50% + would unironically do just that. There’s something in their mind that just refuses to let them admit they’ve made a mistake, ever. So the alternative to being wrong is being completed deluded and divorced from reality, but hey, to them its better than admitting they were wrong apparently.
