Or got any plans for the week?
It was my SO’s birthday and she wanted to go to a local transport museum, which was actually great fun riding around the site on trains, trams and trolley buses. A couple of shots of some 1920s trams.
Did the Barbenheimer, although split over two days. Both fantastic films. I felt a bit bad for the small children and their parents in the Barbie screening though.
Glad I didn’t go see Barbie then my 7yo was taking bout it but seen mixed reports before hand (although often they turn out from pearl clutching Americans that think moanna is too scary and little.mermaid too sexual. But now reading many actual specific reviews…and seeing it with the 12 (thought it would be Pg) glad didn’t get her too hyped.
Personally off to science museum London tonight to watch Oppenheimer in proper IMAX
Went to the shops … remembered they shut early on Sunday … came back from the shops (I say at least it wasn’t raining, but it was)
It’s absolutely mental the time shops close on a Sunday down in England.
Left for my work induction down Portsmouth on a Sunday and realised I’d forgotten my belt about half way down. Figured I’d just stop at an Asda or something. Couple of hours from Portsmouth and I fired one into the satnav. Took a wee detour and pulled up to an empty car park maybe the back of 6 in the evening. Felt like this guy.
[insert another post from an always confused Scot when in England on a Sunday]
I consider it yet another ADHD tax. We live a less than 5 minute walk from a big Asda that is open 24/7, I seriously don’t think I could cope with wacky Sunday opening rules.
To be fair, I was down in London seeing Helloween and on the way back to my cousin’s flat she got us off the bus to go into the big Tesco where we all got a cargo at like half 12 at night! Was blown away.
Sunday trading laws are one of my bugbears.
Either close completely like they used to, or open as normal. This halfway house thing is just stupid.
How did you keep your trousers up for the first part of the journey?
Should have clarified - induction required me to wear a suit. For a 8 hour drive I was wearing shorts and t shirt!
To be fair, I was just being a wind up merchant.
Keep up the good work!
Birthday party. Another. That’s the tenth since March. Nine of them on a Sunday. Which happens to be the one day of the weekend that my partner works. She doesn’t seem to mind parties. Funny that.
Also started and finished a little puzzle game called Viewfinder.
Viewfinder looks brilliant! Gonna grab it for my wife as it seems right up her street.
Got her the Oxenfree sequel but not started it. We Absolutely loved the first.
I went to drop the kids an hour and a half away in the car at their grandparents house for summer. Got half an hour away in the rain when the windscreen wipers stopped working, AGAIN!
We had to turn around and drive home, and get my 70 year old Dad to drive up for them instead.
So we are now child free for 6 weeks but also can’t drive anywhere if it’s raining.
6 weeks wean free! Oh sweet, sweet bliss. Hope you have a good one!
Thanks we fully intend to, got a couple of gigs, bbqs and parties planned in already. I’m expecting a bonus this week that will buy me a new Aliens game for my PC which should keep me occupied on the rainy days, and I’m learning how to “Speed Cube” speed solving Rubiks cubes and have a couple of fancy ones in the Postal System somewhere.
Brilliant, sounds like you’re making good use of it!
Is it that one that’s like x-com? Really fancy that.
I don’t know I’ve never played Xcom but it’s called Aliens Dark Descent so if the one you’re thinking of is that, then yes.
Aye that’s the one! Looking forward to picking that up at some point also.
Enjoy!
We went camping in the Scottish Borders for a couple of days. It was nice when we got there, and then it rained. Spent all of yesterday afternoon drying out a soggy 5 person tent in a small patch of the back garden. On the plus side I got one night of great sleep on a new self inflating mattress. The kids really enjoyed it too.
Am just counting the days until i can go home. Due to a hilarious mix up, i have my weeks holiday from work spent at my inlaws. Likely ill get home at 5pm on Friday and will have the weekend ‘off’.
I should not complain too much, for all the annoyances of the in-laws, it is 5 days of not cooking, cleaning or doing chores.
I just want to chill and play computer games…
Had a very promising band practice yesterday, with lots of plans around our potential success. So, pretty happy with that!
I’ve only few months left in this country now, so I’m visiting a lot if places in and outside of London before that dreaded day comes.
Next weekend, it’ll ve Portobello Road Market on Saturday and friend’s place on Sunday
Went to the Dagenham and Redbridge v West Ham friendly on Saturday. Great going and seeing some football in a proper stadium with standing room and actually being close enough to the pitch to see what’s going on.
Did Tomb Raider Live, which was a lot of fun!
Patched some work servers on Saturday and then carried out a DR.
I then sat on my arse all weeekend, sinking around 15 hours into Dave the Diver. Absolutely loving it, although by last night I was doing daft shit and dying all the time. Had to do a sneaky alt+F4 before I got a bit too tilted.
My wife said it was about time I sorted my wardrobe. I literally keep stuff until its falling to bits!
Got rid of 2 massive bin bags worth, which only left me with about 10 tshirts heh. So went shopping too, it was dead in town, although made the shopping easy!
That was me at the start of this summer realising all my shorts were falling apart so I refreshed by whole summer kit.
Rained all day Sunday, caused a serious flood in my house, landlord says that nobody will be able to look at it until Friday.
It’s scheduled to rain most of the day Wednesday and Thursday, really no idea what I can do here.
Nice pics, museum good shout with all this rain. My Saturday was mostly spent looking out the window wishing the non stop rain would bugger off, I did get a trip in to the builders merchants and got some timber, and as yesterday was nice and dry I actually managed to get on with my little project - fitting solar panels.
I’m currently getting quotes in for a 5kw array and 5kw inverter, some of the prices are so comical I’ve been tempted to phone them back and just laugh hysterically down the phone at them.
