Despite how much I dislike working with hardware, I’m toying with the idea of building my own PC. A quick perusal through Newegg leaves me wondering why everything related to gaming PCs has to have RGB lights everywhere? How am I supposed to sleep at night when my computer’s acting like it’s at a rave?

Wait until you see how much extra metal and plastic some new cases have to hide cables and components to make it look cool and pretty.

I bought a Corsair 5000D and pulled out like a small case’s worth of material out of it just to make it easier to work on. Should have bought a cheap bare bones case instead of this over engineered piece of crap lol.

All this RGB shit is so funny to me since I just shove all the parts in and never look at it until something breaks or I upgrade something, it’s like the early 2000s “DAEWOO BOUNCE look at my underglow lights and spinning rims on my Toyota Tercel supe’d up hoopty” nonsense. I get it, but it’s also so goddamn distracting.

But like others said, you can turn off RGB. The only thing I can think of that you may have to watch out for if you’re getting a big aftermarket cooler is RAM clearance since RGB RAM tends to be a bit bigger.
