And the publisher will state something like “industry standard” or something like that which really means “we charge $80 because other people charge $80.” In reality, they no longer have to worry about printing games (so that cost is gone) and no longer have to compete for shelf space, there is infinite supply (digital games), the cost of technology decreases over time, and the increase acceptance of DLC and digital marketplaces. The increase of prices only benefits overall profits and is anti-consumer. The consumer does not see a decrease in prices when they fire thousands of people or other expenses are cut. Instead they just raise the price. 100% greed.

People batted eyes. Batted them all the way down to target to buy Mario kart. Online outrage doesn’t mean shit if the game still sells.

It’s worse with Nintendo too. Barring it becoming a mega hit like Baldur’s Gate 3, you can bet that you’ll be able to get this game for $40 (or less) within a year.

Nintendo games don’t get discounted like this.

It’s probably not 100% greed. Some of it is inflation. $60 in 2013 would be worth $82 today. So like 97% greed.

In the span of just a few months, $80 games have gone from an all-new idea that nobody liked to a reality that more and more of us would have to deal with.

    Lol, no. I’ll just wait.

Nice. $80 and exclusivity to Epic again, right? That extra capital didn’t help the first game, don’t have any hopes it will this time either.

I meant, if you really want to play it on day one it will be €11 on Gamepass, otherwise patience gamer all the way down.

Was the first one any good? I felt like it faded into obscurity fairly quickly.

Better than Starfield, but nothing memorable. Skill tree honestly might as well have not existed, it just made you feel limited.

Buy it on a good sale.

I will not disagree with that, but it’s painful when Bethesda games are enjoyed for the gameplay and not the RPG/narrative/quest elements

Well, I had fun with Anthem’s gameplay so I understand

Feels like I am one of few who loved it. It is in no way a 10/10 game, and it leaves a lot to be desired. However, the story was so good that I was able to look past all that. For me it felt like a mashup of New Vegas, Borderlands and Mass Effect. Set in a dystopian capitalist hellscape in space
