Here’s an argument if ur gonna make distinctions bases upon race ur racist. Thus race based dei is racist. If race based dei isn’t racist then negative comments based upon race also aren’t racist. To have one without the other is simply doublethink.

It’s kind of amazing to see the mental gymnastics racists do to compare racism to DEI. The human brain works in some truly mysterious ways.

Well 1) They’re not handouts and 2) They’re adjusting for the biases shown in those industries previously and are meant to combat the discrimination these people have faced every day of their lives.

Not what I asked. How is giving someone something based upon race not racist?

No. That’s stupid. Very, very stupid. How are races defined without specifying differences between races?

What makes something racist is unfounded critique of races, not simply references to races.

DISCLAIMER: I do not mean this in the context of OP’s digging at Indians. Without some heavy qualifications that go far beyond anecdote, it’s kinda’ a racist statement…

So if the critique is founded then its not racist? U can find a lot of statistics that are true and would get you called an extreme racist if u said em.

For example is it racist to say that Arabs are more inbred? https://europepmc.org/article/MED/19811666

By your logic its also not racist to say that black people in america commit a disproportionate amount of crime https://crimeresearch.org/2023/11/violent-crime-rates-by-race/

These claims are founded in science and fact so therefore not racist right?

Making distinctions/different rules/different judgements bases upon race and not the content of ones character is racist.

A “Showerthought” is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you’re doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

  • Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
  • When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
  • More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as “capitalism” and “communism”. If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy’s Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
