Update: the post is back, maybe people mass reported it and the bots took it down? I don’t know.

EDIT: It seems the removal got reverted and the post brought back.

It seems Reddit is removing it from everywhere, even the one in pcmasterrace got nuked. It would be interesting to know the reason, but we all know how transparent Reddit’s sitewide moderation policies are.

I could maybe understand them locking the post. However, I don’t see a reason for them needing to delete the post.

It was the Reddit admins, I don’t know if there’s been any proper explanation, but apparently it might be related to self harm references in the post.

Most likely LMG sent a request to have it removed for vague reasons that don’t have to hold up because there is no public record

And, while it ignores so many other boards that are straight up about death and mutilation, the self harm aspects of the stories may technically trigger a rule. Argument that if she cut her own leg to get a sick day then that is self harm and thus this is removed for “wellness” reasons.

If there’s one thing that’s consistent about Reddit, it’s that it’s inconsistent… There are many Reddit decisions that baffle everyone.

Her story isn’t profitable. Not like Linus, profitable to reddit, so we see reddit being spez being a removed.

This is the work of the Reddit’s (site) admins, not the subreddit moderators. In fact it seems it is getting removed site-wide.

I still don’t get why is that reddit’s issue. Is the general public not allow to discuss ongoing events like these, it’s never been an issue before? It’s probably just mass bot spamming of reports for these threads, but I’m surprised local subreddit mods cant overrule it.

Subreddit mod removal would show [Removed].
[ Removed by Reddit ] is done by the site admins or AEO.

In regards to comments with the former you could still see your own comments, for the latter even as the author you would see this message, making an appeal nearly impossible too. And the AEO monkeys ban you for literally anything.

      Admins > Mods > Users

Admins are like the gods of the site. They can do anything in any sub.

Mods are like the demigods of their specific domain (just the sub they are a mod of).

      Users have no power whatsoever.

You can find more information in the post “Madison on why she quit” in this community.

To give a really short and unworthy TLDR Madison was an employee of LMG and have shared her - honestly abysmal and abusive - experience working there.
      Some noteworthy quotes:

I was asked about my sexual history, my boyfriends sexual history, “how I liked to fuck”.

I was told that certain issues were “sexual tension” and I should just “take the co-worker out on a coffee date to ease it out”

I was told I was chunky, fat, ugly, stupid. I was called “retarded” I was called a “faggot”

My work was called “dogs–t” I was called “incompetent”.

“I think the reason you try to be funny, is because you lack any other skills.” smiled then walked away.

I watched co-workers get what I had asked for weeks before they did. It took 2 months to get mine.

Also apparently some managers didn’t like me because I “hadn’t gotten drunk with them before” Which was said in that haha just jokin (but actually I’m serious) tone

I sincerely invite you to read the whole thread where she shared her story: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1691693740254228741.html

It seems that the Reddit admins are currently deleting all threads that link to Madison’s experience.

I think Reddit might have automatically taken it down based on user reports and the content policy due to this part being taken NSFW?

Thank you! I read most of it in snippets but this is much easier to follow. It’s so terrible and was what prompted me to unsubscribe.

I genuinely have no idea. Not even the mods there seem to know, but it was brought back, so maybe an error - or automatic script - of some kind? I fear we’ll never know.

You are very welcome. I can only hope that the current visibility of her story will help others, in similar situations of distorted power dynamics, understand that what they are living is nor normal nor acceptable, and give them the courage to right it.

On top of the other shit going down at LMG for their sloppy to the point of unacceptable journalism (like screwing up numbers, ignoring manufacturer recommendations, selling prototypes of unreleased hardware without manufacturer consent), an ex worker at LMG also came forward about the working conditions there, including allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

selling prototypes of unreleased hardware without manufacturer consent

This isn’t true. They didn’t sell the prototype, they sold it at an auction. Entirely different, apparently.

They’re taking the piss out of Linus’s own justification. Linus himself was the one to use this semantics argument unironically.

Because selling to the highest bidder, isn’t selling. It’s auctioning,

And that’s different somehow, at least according to Linus’ explanation of this whole thing. I think we can trust Linus on this one, he has a proven track record of accuracy and honesty. LOL

She was basically harrassed, bullied by co workers and leadership did nothing

She was overworked and so on

      Thats the gist of it.

Its a lot of tweets. And theres a lot of details. I read it all and i would have quit too. Probably sooner than her.

Glad she is out of there. Seems like the worst “tech” place to work ive ever heard of.

Appreciate it. The moderator’s comment shows I got it wrong. Considering how promptly the post was taken down and then put back up, it might have been an automated action triggered by reports. To be honest, this lines up with the not-so-great LTT fan community. Sad.

it might have been an automated action triggered by reports.

It could well be, but knowing how terse and opaque the site-wide moderation is on Reddit I fear we will never really know. The important thing is that it is now back and even if it was a clumsy attempt at censorship by some of the fan base, as you hypothesize, it failed.
