Yep. I do take comfort in the fact that the student protesters were heard to chant, “Death to tyrants." You can bet that will turn Trump up to 11even though it is the state motto, more or less.
Sic semper tyrannis more accurately translates to “thus always to tyrants.” Since it supposedly originates with a statement by Brutus over Ceasar’s fresh corpse, the meaning is quite clear. I’ll give the students an A- on the translation. I mean, hey, who takes Latin language classes these days anyway?
So who is the new president? I’m hoping it’s someone with strong liberal roots.
