They dug out a little rut, stretched out in it, decided it wasn’t quite good enough. Dug a little more, then stretched out big. It was an exceptionally hot day and I’m sure that mulch was nice and cool for them!

And definitely not comfortable. Obviously very busy getting to the root of a problem, mulching over a few possible solutions
