Not really necessarily about buying, so I don’t know if this post fits here. But seems like a good place for the “discussion.”
Let us compile a list of European content creators / artists.
I find that the US may have a rather large influence online, via music and content, and art. Yet I feel like Europe also has great stuff that could be getting more attention. So, what are some good European musicians, YouTube channels, podcasts, etc.? No matter the language.
Maybe do indicate the language, to help people filter through what they can understand. And maybe the country as well, or not. A short description and/or category is also nice, for people to know ahead of time if it is something they’re interested in.
Dunno if a “similar to” would be a good adition, as in “for people who like” or “an alternative to”
This could also be made into some sort of Awesome list on Git. Feels like that’d be cool. Or at least a list people could search and filter through. If anyone would like to take this idea and make it a thing, feel free!

Long Story Short – Podcast – News – English A short daily European news podcast
It’s quite a repetitive thing, but arte.tv has quite some content made from European perspective. mubi.com has arthouse cinema with global coverage, and Europe may well be the most vibrant place for arthouse cinema (though international production and audience is a very distinctive trait of arthouse).
Most of the time I go to a cinema I see this network at the intro - www.europa-cinemas.org Local, indie cinema, even if you watch at home most of the time, might be a great place to look for interesting movies. Some of them also play classics (I know BioRio does it in Stockholm)
I’ve sometimes been sometimes watching “TLDR Europe” and “EU Made Simple” for EU news. They are on Youtube, but I believe there is a PeerTube copy now (would appreciate a link).
News is easy: The Guardian, Deutsche Welle, Le Monde, France24, all have fully working sites in English - whatever suits you.
From podcasts one of the things I’ve tried is the award-winning Living Planet podcast from Deutsche Welle: https://www.dw.com/en/living-planet/program-19028671 Kinda in similar mood, but more hippie/way-out/thought-provoking is “Forest of Thought” based in Uppsala, Sweden: https://forestofthought.com/
In general, I am not sure if “alternative to” approach works for culture. European culture is markedly different from American. At least for me, it is one of the reasons to stay in this part of the world.

The Bridge (Sweden/Denmark) - thriller series with an autistic cop
Cunk on Earth (Great Britain) - mockumentary, plays with cringe (so it can be really difficult to watch)
Christian Löffler (Germany) - electronic music (can’t remember whether there are vocals)
Paul Kalkbrenner (Germany) - electronic music in english
Geschichten aus der Geschichte (Austria) - podcast in austrian, history
Die Dunkelkammer (Austria) - podcast in austrian, investigative journalism
Doctor Who (Great Britain) - sci-fi, start at 2005

Think the issue with “european” podcasts and other indy stuff is that if you dont speak the language its generaly hard to find something of high quality thats made for local public , aka french , german etc , esp if its indy scene where subs and/or dubs are not as prevalent … im from ex yugoslavia and we have a rich cinematographic history thats not as aporachable as it was made by and for yugoslavs , where a lot of “inside jokes” , commentary and rest is relevant for that time and space , no english subtitles as english wasnt lingua franca yet.
Id love to see other people recommend me euro made stuff thats available to someone who doesnt speak german nor french
Europod has podcasts in several languages, including the aforementioned Long Story Short (in partnership with the Sphera Network, who also have videos in several languages, plus subtitles)
